The Blogging Mama

  •

Have I mentioned how well I love Blogging? Probably not for about a month or so now! Anyhow there are so many reasons I love blogging but let me tell you about when it all started!

It all started about 10 years ago or so in one of my classes back in high school. We had to create a little weebly website about some history topic we thought was “important” I don’t honestly know if I could find that old website anymore. But from then on I loved It. Next I created a WATTPAD account and wrote some short stories that never really grew any traction but I was proud of them none the less. I wrote and wrote and then my account got hacked. That was the end of my WATTPAD career. I went on to create another blog with weebley about the topic of clean living and recycling, and stuff like that. I grew bored with it. At the time I absolutely thought that was my passion though. Finally when I became pregnant I created yet another blog, this was a free WordPress one and I truly wish I would have continued this blog. I got sick, and scared to write and ended up taking down all my posts (like maybe all 4 of them??) and deleted that old blog.

Now I’ve been officially blogging for one month shy of a year. Its been my longest running blog so far. Why? Why did this one take off with viewers when others didn’t? Why have i been able to keep this one up when I got bored of others?

Here’s the secret: I found my passion!!!!

Yep, while I have always had a passion for writing, (I even went through a phase where I wanted to marry a truck driver and go on the road writing with him.) I found out that my passion is mom blogging. It took me a little bit to really discover mom blogs, and once I did I loved reading them. I soon figured out I loved writing them: Because I love being a mom! So before you set out to start a blog know your passion. While passion was my secret drive to starting my blog, I had another secret weapon under my sleeve, and its a must for anyone thinking about blogging. You ready for it????

My second secrete: DON’T start a free blog!!

Yep, this was another difference between my current blog and every other past writing venture I attempted. For this blog I paid for it. I think I paid around $80 for a year of self hosting domain. I did so through BlueHost. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made it my writing career. For me paying for it kept me going! I didn’t want to think that I had wasted that much money to not use the account. I began with something manageable, like one to two posts per week, even when I didn’t want to blog any more. You do get writers block even as a self hosted writer. Then I discovered the secret to writers block, and I was able to pump out three posts a week. Should I let you in on this secret to???? Ok, I will! If you are needing a preview of some plans and pricing, then check out this screen shot bellow!

My third secret: schedule your posts!

My secret to overcoming the writers block that can happen as a blogger, or to overcoming those phases you go through where you are just like: My life is meaninglessness, I don’t want to blog any more, Blah Blah Blah I want to take up sky fishing with chocolate yarn… Yea I’m sure every blogger has been there done that mental process before. So my secrete to overcoming it, or dealing with a busy life where you cant actually write a blog post every week is to schedule out your posts. I find that I get really excited about blogging when I’m on breaks from college. When you are excited about blogging is the BEST time to crank out posts! So, over my break I cranked out and scheduled 6 months worth of content!!!!!!!! That is totally do able. Anyhow, after you have a ton of content schedules, basically all you have to so is write whenever the notion strikes you, You can just tack the post onto the end of you line up, add it as a behind the scenes update (these come out apart from your regularly scheduled days. Or you can take a post move it to the end, ad put your new post in as regular content. It completely takes the stress out of blogging. WHICH makes the process soooooooooooooooooooooooo much more fun!

Now that you have my top three blogging secrets that stem from 10 years in the making, lets get you that blog!!! You can hop on over to Bluehost and get one your self, or I will walk you through it completely for free, with advice on how to monetize from the beginning here.
