What goes wrong with time management as a single mom? I feel as if most days, I have no idea where the time goes, and I am on some rabbit wheel of life—bouncing from one rabbit wheel to the next. At the beginning of the month, it was decided that some things needed to change as I started a new job. So I began keeping track of my time a little better.

Android Simple Time Tracker for Single Moms

As a single mom working from home, I use the android simple time trackers app for time management. The app is so simple to use. I set up cards for the things that I want to track in my life. I have something like:

  • Work
  • Homeschool
  • College
  • Playtime
  • Cleaning
  • Self-care/workout tasks
  • Sleeping

After setting up the cards, I have to tap one whenever I start an activity and tap it when I’m done. It automatically tracks my time, and I can see how much time I spend each week doing what.

Time Management for Single Moms Working form home:

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I am still, again this week, in the “trial period” for my next gig, which leaves me not having very much paid work to do. I say fortunately because I have been feeling very frazzled. It could be because of the lack of paid work, making me nervous.

One thing I did in October was run myself ragged and down. I was so tired that the last week of October, I was sleeping between 10-12 hours and barely getting anything done because of the “push” I had been making up for the rest of the month leading up to it.

If it can be avoided, I don’t want to do that again. Hafter the amount of time I spent on the self-care activities for myself and my daughter, you would think that we would be looking fabulous. And everything would be running smoothly. Notwithstanding, more work needs to be done. After

I have noticed now, after two weeks now spent with this app, that I am starting to see where my time goes week to week, and I begin making adjustments if I see I am spending too much or too little time in certain areas. It has been beneficial.

What Time Management Looks Like for a Single Mom:

My top five activities for this week are shown alongside the pie chart of them.

That little pie chart amuses me.

  1. Starting from the top, I have asleep. Goodness, I have slept more this week than I should, and I hate that. However, my excuse is I am probably still recuperating. I will continue to use this exuuse. Fortunatly, I devoted a little bit less time this week to sleeping than I did last week.
  2. My next highest portion this week was hygiene and work out. It was a prettty nice week so this included my daughter and I’s walks, as well as all of the bath times, make up times, etc. Still though, this one was a littel overboard I feel like, I need to cut it down in the weeks to come.
  3. While play time and homeschool were pretty much neck in neck playtime came next. for play time this week we did a variety of things including: spending time outside, watching new movies, painting christmas ornaments, drawing, and sewing.
  4. Our next catigory was homeschool. The packeted homeschool routine did not work out as I had hopped it would when I initially started this series. So, we are back to square one in that reguard.
  5. Finally there is the college portion which, thankfuly wasn’t as large as last week but still had a few projects to endure.

Extra Details

There are a couple of other colors up there, like the greens, purples, and dark blues, which are all different categories of my job. This week was a slow week. I anticipate those to pick up in the weeks to come.
