Does October feel like it just has you down in the dumps? It can be a blah month for homeschool moms. Maybe you are also a working mom, or you are trying to juggle more than one thing at once? Perhaps your October has been like ours, and there have been some sad times with very few pumpkins. Sometimes better time management can help you pull your routine, your blog, and yourself out of a rut.

Less Is More For Homeschool Moms Who Blog

It is important to remember that less is more. Especially when you have to juggle many hats, for instance, you could be misrepresenting a

If you don’t do well with a routine or plan, juggling many hats can make your life more stressful because you feel like you’re chasing your tail. The good news is that you can do something called reverse time blocking.

Reverse Time Blocking: Time Management Method

It is a time management technique that will allow you to keep track of the time you spend on various tasks while still having the flexibility you crave. With reverse time blocking, you can use an app that records the amount of time you do on large tasks such as:

  • Homeschooling
  • Writing or working
  • Cleaning
  • Self-care activities
  • Playtime

Then you can look back over it at a glance at the end of the day. If you use color codes for these tasks, you will easily be able to glance at them. The best part of this is that it makes you accountable without having to bug an accountability partner. You can see where you are spending or wasting your time each day and strive to be more productive the next day.

In fact, just seeing the time you put into tasks helps to motivate you towards this change. But, don’t start big with the change. Simply, take the first week and either record the large blocks in your google calendar or get the Simple Time Tracker app for android. Razeeman produces it.

The app makes it really easy to track your major activities with a button click. If your phone is full, or you just like the look and feel of Google Calendar, it works well. You just set up a calendar item after you do something to show your time block of what you did.

Do you want to make an extra $1000 a month?

Creating a niche blog is a profitable side hustle. You can make an extra $1000 a month as a young mother working on a blog or website. As a bonus, it helps you hone in on valuable skillsets that range from writing to computer design. You can start a blog just like this one with no background in blogging at all with our helpful beginner’s guide to blogging.

Google calendars for reverse time blocking

Finally, suppose you are using the google calendars method. In that case, it can be helpful to set tasks of things you sometimes forget to do or something you want to make sure you hit every day without fail. With tasks, you can auto-schedule them like events, so they appear on the days you want to do them, but you can mark them as completed for the day. You can also drag them around to the time you actually did the task. It is easy to reverse time track as long as you keep it to only 3 or 4 important reminders each day. Perhaps you want to make sure you eat three meals a day or write at least once a day. You could auto-schedule these reminders in your phone and track if you did them by marking them as complete.

See Reverse Time Tracking In Action

You can see time tracking in this style in action too. I have been doing this method on and off for a long time. However, I stuck with it for a month and became much more productive and happier. If you are at your wit’s end. If you can’t keep up with your cleaning regiment, your work schedule, your homeschooling, or various other aspects of your life, check out these helpful posts for examples of specific lifestyles:

Start Small and Build Up

You should start small with this activity. Start by tracking. Then after a week, you can start seeing trends in where you spend and waste your time. When you see tendencies, you will feel motivated to change aspects of your life. However, if you start changing things all at once, you will surely fail. I write about this topic a lot in my latest book, for moms Developing New Habits: A Moms Guide. By a mom for moms on developing new habits and changing your life in chaotic times. You can get the print version of this book and fill out the motivational questions and prompts at the end of each chapter. You can get the ebook, read through it, and interact digitally with the material. This excellent book is found on amazon.

Developing New Habits For Homeschool Moms

Tech for Homeschool Moms Who Blog To Make Life Easier

As I mentioned, I got an app on my phone to help me through this whole process of “time management” for the month. But technology is critical for blogging moms. You need good quality pieces of equipment to help you run your business faster, smoother, and more successfully. If you aren’t fully stocked with a blogging moms’ best stuff, then here are a few ideas to help your life run smoother.

1. Adjustable Desk

Standing Desks for Blogging Moms

As a blogging mom, you are on your feet a lot with the kiddos. Chasing after them as they sling a bowl of spaghetti-o’s on the floor, and so on. So why would you want a standing desk? Well, you want a standing desk or an adjustable desk to set it up somewhere that it is easy to see the kids play. You will have moments where you have to leave your desk quickly, and the taller standing feature will be very beneficial. You will also have moments where you need to sit down for a while and rest your legs. Having an electronic adjustable desk for a blogging mom makes it easy to transition between the two.

2. Flexible Touch Screen Lap Top

You will also do well with a flexible touchscreen laptop as a blogging mom because you can quickly move it from place to place within your home or even travel with it. You also don’t have to worry about a tricky mouse pad or bringing along a blue tooth mouse if your laptop is a touch screen. Other benefits include:

  • Easily hand-draw graphics for your blog on the screen
  • Drag and drop blogging elements with your finger
  • Let the kids watch movies or play games on the road
  • Portable
  • It has Bluetooth, so you can print
  • Camera for blog photos

3. Bluetooth Printer

For homeschool moms who work with any kind of printables or worksheets, you need to get a good printer that will print via Bluetooth. This way, you can print from your laptop or phone from anywhere in the house—and have your kids get the papers. Kind of kidding, but in all reality, this HP printer rocks:

  • Fast
  • Ink conserving
  • Blue tooth and wifi enabled
  • Prints nice pages
  • Works with Alexa
  • Ink delivery options

Get your schedule in order, and get some great blogging mom tech to help smooth out your day.
