We have been looking into our favorite fall activities for mother and daughter in September of 2021. Can you believe it is already autumn? It seems so bizarre how truly fast this year has flown. It also appears so strange how quickly first grade is going for us. But we don’t want to miss out on the many fun moments that life has thrown our way. So, here are our favorite things to do for September.

Activities for Mother and Daughter | Tree Identification

We made a tree identification book and wandered around our yard, and took drives to identify various trees within our state.

Tree identification has been one of my daughter’s favorite hobbies lately and it goes great on our activities for mother and daughter list. She loves to pull out her guidebook and look up at the trees to determine what they are based on their leaves, how they change colors this fall, what seeds and nuts they have, and even their bark. We have learned some fascinating facts about trees along the way.

Zooms With Princesses for Daughters

On Outschool, you can attend zoom classes, tea parties and do a whole variety of fun adventures with a princess as your host! This is great fun if you have young girls! These classes run at almost all times of the day. You are bound to find one that fits your schedule. We have been testing out some princess-hosted social classes with tea parties and what knot in them. It has been a blast this fall!

Mother Daughter Scavenger Hunts

SWe must really like finding things; perhaps it is our autumn passion. One thing that my daughter has loved doing is scavenger hunts for prizes. We do these all around the yard using small notes that I have written up to read and follow the clues. We have anywhere from four to eight clues per game until she finds her prize. This has been a great tool to get her reading. I love sneaking in reading without it feeling like a chore for her. The little hidden notes remind me of a book I read where the author incorporated the same concept for a debutante (in regency times) who couldn’t read. Suppose you mamas are a big regency reader as I am. In that case, you should definitely check out the book Once Upon a Devilishly Enchanting Kiss, book one of the Whickertons in Love series by Brie Wolf. I would actually recommend any of her books, especially this series filled with witty banter and fresh ideas on romance.

Activities for Mother and Daughter and Pets | Bubble Walks with the Dogs

Let me just start out with this, how fun is bubble blowing? Super fun, right? We have a dog who loves to chase bubbles. This probably isn’t a rare thing. I had a dog when I was young who also loved to chase bubbles. They could have been twins, but they probably would not have liked each other a wink. Anyhow, my daughter and I have been taking our dog on bubble-blowing walks where we blow bubbles. She chases after us enthusiastically through the fall evenings popping the bubbles with her teeth.

Hamster Cuddles for Daughters

This is by far my daughter’s favorite thing to do of late. It is a good thing that our hamster is the amicable sort because it hardly gets a moment’s peace. Between each of my daughter’s classes, she insists upon hamster cuddles. Most of the time, the little thing doesn’t mind. The hamster even attends storytimes and two live zoom show-and-tells thus far.

20 Second Game

This has been such a mild fall. The wind isn’t stormy, and the temperature is just lovely. As a result, we have had the opportunity to play outside A TON! We even go outside for school. We have an exciting game that keeps active little kids engaged in schoolwork. It is called the 20-second game. I give my daughter 20 seconds to find a location anywhere in the yard. Then she does a problem or two from her workbook, and we start the process over again. Running around and mixing in the fun while doing the work is motivation enough to get through the workbook pages.

Watercolor Painting

We have been getting crafty this fall with watercolor painting. For a few days, one week, I had watercolor paints and a coloring book set up to have some fun painting activities. It made for a nice change of pace.
