There are slides in the lessons to go over the 5 main worksheets and help teach them to the students. If you teach phonics daily this unit is designed to last for 5 days or be one week long.

Home Based Game:

This unit works great for homeschool. You can have the slides on a laptop or tablet device to help walk your student through the worksheets and teach them a fun phonics lesson. The PowerPoint slides are designed to be story based (they go along with the Is it a rock? eBook). The backgrounds are eye catching and fun for learners who may not like to sit still for very long. If you are looking to change things up for a week of your homeschool routine to reset the pace, this is the perfect lesson plan for you.

What Platforms can I use this on?

  • Google Slides/Google Classrooms– These games the slides can be uploaded to google slides.
  • Microsoft Teams The Slides can be uploaded to Microsoft teams.
  • Schoology and Canvas– Both platforms allow you to embed a Google Slides doc, after uploading the slides to your google docs you can use them with either of these platforms.

Do I need the eBook: Is it a Rock?

No, While the eBook is a nice supplement to the material and can encourage a love of reading in the students as the work in the unite has graphics and words that go along with the book, the book is not necessary for this unit. If you are interested in the book for your students, you can put it on the board to share it or screen share over the virtual lecture. It is available through amazon (here).

Hope you enjoy this Phonics Story based lesson as much as we did!
