There has been a steady stream of mega blocks in our living room floor for the duration of quarantine. In fact, it has been there for years, occasionally moving from room to room.

Building:

These Blocks are played with pretty much daily. Since quarantine began my daughter has taken to building block furniture. She makes chairs, couches, and horses to ride. The impressive part is that these blocks actually hold her up when she uses her newly constructed furniture. In case you are wondering…she is 5 years old! That probably puts into perspective for you just how sturdy these Mega Bloks are!

How long have we had them? YEARS

Mega Bloks have been around for years! The set we have is from when i was a young child. They are well over 20 years old. That just further proves the durability of Mega Bloks! They have withstood the test of time, and many children, dogs, and hamsters playing with them!

Easy to use:

These blocks are much bigger than Legos. But don;t worry, they come with all the same pain when you step on them. You wont be missing out on that key first world parenting experience! It bonds us. Anyway enough silliness and down to the topic I really wanted to discuss in this section. These blocks are so easy to use! Sometime Legos can get stuck and my daughter brings them to me to pry apart. This can be a real nail breaker. Don’t get me wrong, we love our legos. But Mega Blocks are so much easier for young kids to pop apart and put back together.

Block Animals:

While we have discussed all about the ease of use and durability of these Blocks I wanted to Go into detail about some of the most recent block projects. My daughter has taken to making block animals. She has made 2D camels, 3D frogs, and even an alligator. We have made several moose block statues as well!

Colors:

I just know your kiddos will be amused with Mega Bloks during their social distancing time! It is truly great because these blocks can go in the sand boxes or picnic blankets outside. You can also have the kids play with them in any room of the house this fall and winter.

We have a pastel set, BUT you can get all kinds of colors, and even sizes from amazon. We have the “mini’s” but the large ones look super cool too!
