Yay! Another reason to celebrate SOMETHING! I feel like sometimes we celebrate so many random things. But honestly in my mind it is not really about actually celebrating things like “Dr. Suess’s Birthday” of “St. Pats Day!” It is more about the bonding activities that come with these fun days. It is about the moment we get the opportunity to share with our kids. Last week, my daughter and I got to talk about all the Dr. Suess stuff and plan each of the spirit week outfits out together. Those little moments are so cherished. For St. Pat’s day it is simply the fun of doing all the silly little themed crafts and spending time together “plotting how to catch a leprechaun”. So while I don’t really care for much the the meaning or history really behind these holidays, I do love the togetherness that a celebration brings. So, if you are looking for some green themed togetherness then look no further than some of these awesome crafts and activities!
DIY Leprechaun Hats
These leprechaun hats are super easy and cute to make for St. Pats Day! Simply just paint some empty toilet paper rolls green and glue them in the center of a square piece of green construction paper. have the kiddos cut out some cute yellow construction paper buckles for the hats. So, toilet paper rolls, and construction paper. Maybe a bit of glue! Super simple. We have been really into making crafts out of toilet paper rolls because we get so many of them! Indefinably a recycling initiative?
Marshmallow Shamrock Paintings:
These are super cute marshmallow paintings. Just have the kiddos stamp three or four marshmallow prints together and it makes shamrocks! You can also do these with thumbprints as well! Use some green or gold kids acrylic craft paint!
St. Pats Craft: Leprechaun Faces
Leprechaun faces! We sat down and made these cute crafts over the weekend and they were very simple. They are a great way for kids to work on their fine motor skills like cutting, my daughter cut out the faces. They also help with glue-ing, drawing, and creativity! My daughter glued all the little construction paper beard loops together and cut out the hair! She also drew on the faces.
The Leprechaun Trap of 2020
Finally, the Moment you all have been waiting for, our 2020 leprechaun trap! We have made a trap now, each year for the past three years, and each year they get better and better. (But no, for those of you who will surely drop down to the comments section and be asking, we have never caught a leprechaun in one of our great traps!) For this one we got some wrapping paper, an empty box, and some plastic gold coins, and a little leprechaun hat! We put gold coins inside so a leprechaun could fall right in!
St. Pats Green Kinetic Sand
Our last activity is to play with green kinetic sand. This is a great sensory activity, pretty cheap, and it comes in all colors. Green is great for around St. Pats Day! Get your sand here today!
