Here is a fun fact for Dr. Suess day. If he was still alive he would be 116 years old! For those readers who are not based in the united states and have no idea what I am talking about, let me go ahead and catch you up to speed. Dr. Suess was an American author who wrote many great children’s books! He was born in 1904 on March 2nd. Before last week though, I had no idea that anyone still celebrated his birthday (and I used to work in a library!) But apparently this is a big thing in elementary schools, preschools, and children’s libraries. Perhaps it was because I mostly worked in the Adult section that I didn’t know about it. Anyway, I got a paper from the preschool about Dr. Suess spirt week. I have also been looking into teaching jobs for this upcoming august and I saw it on many elementary school sites last week (more on this career change can be found here). Anyway, moving on.

The preschool is doing an entire spirit week of activities like pj’s, snacks, career day etc. They are also watching Dr. Suess based movies and reading books (I think on the books part anyway). So, while we were at the library this past week, we did a totally cute photo shoot with some Dr. Suess Books AND decided to tell you all about some of our all-time favorites. These are educational children’s books if you ever want to check them out or buy them for your kiddos!

Happy Birthday to You!

What is a more perfect book to read on Dr. Suess’s birthday than a book about birthdays! you can grab your copy of the Happy Birthday to You book off amazon today here! This is the book my daughter and I plan on reading today! I have to be honest with you all though, at this time I’ve acutally never read this Dr. Suess book! When we found it at the library the other day I was surprised to find one that I hadn’t heard of!

Green Eggs and Ham

Green Eggs and Ham is a total classic! Netflix even made an original series on it which we are watching this week! It is one of the longer books to read, but It is such a classic, and the repetitiveness of the words helps kids learn to read! You can get it here on amazon!

Pizza Pat

My all time favorite book from the Dr. Sues collection is the Pizza Pat book! It is all about pizza, and it is probably one of the books i have read the most to my daughter, besides the ABC book! She is probably sick of it by now! If you want a copy of pizza pat you can get it here!

Dr. Suess ABC’s

I have mentioned this book a lot over in the preschool section of the blog! It is one of the best tools out there for teaching ABC’s to little kids! You can get a copy of this awesome book here! The board book version is great for small hands to carry around, or to throw in your purse for waiting rooms or restaurants.

Go Dog Go!

The last book that I wanted to tell you about was GO Dog Go. This one is a great one for beginning readers, but it also has colorful pages and is all about dogs! All things that kids love! Can you get better than that? You can get the Go Dog Go here from amazon, it’s less than $5!

If you love reading to your kiddos! Then Dr. Suess’s birthday is a great day to celebrate! Have a great time celebrating it with your kiddos!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Happy Reading,

Brie
