I cannot believe it has already been one month since my daughter started preschool. It has been such a big change in our lives! I figured I’d hop on the blog today and give you all a one month update of how things are going.

Preschool Keeps Kids Stimulated

Preschool keeps kids stimulated. They are pretty much never bored because there is always something going on! I made a list things that my daughter has gotten to do in her first month of preschool (in preparation for this post) and I sat back and thought WOW. So much has happened over this month. She has worked on numbers, letters, and many real world lessons. The kids have lots of play time as well. My daughter typically goes for the arts and crafts stuff during this free time!

Preschool is all about Getting Crafty!

This leads me to all the fun crafts thr kids have been doing! There was a mouse unit one week where they made paper flying mice, a mouse ear head band, and a cute heart shaped mouse. These crafts reinforced the kids abilities to color and worked with fine motor skills, like using scissors. They also crafted a cat out of the letter C.

Counting Units

I got some photos from the teacher of this fun activity! I guess one week the class got new counting blocks! (Similar to legos) They got to measure different fall shapes with there blocks to see how many filled the shape, how tall it was, and how wide it was! (Or so that’s what I gathered from the lesson). If you are a homeschool mom, grabbing out some Legos and printing out some pictures would be a great way to DIY this unit! I’m considering doing a refresher of it with my daughter at home!

Nature

For the nature unit the kids have been learning about farm animals and the sounds they make. There are multiple farm animal videos incorporated into their lesson plans as well. Sometime within the farm animals week the kids learned how to make whipped cream and put it on top of icecream and cookies for snack! In the photos they all looked so happy! My daughter was so excited about this surprise activity! Further more in this unit the kids made fun leaf paintings! I feel like this was a very, hodge podge lesson but the kids had a lot of fun and it kept them on their toes!

Learning Through Play:

Lastly the kids have gotten to learn through play. Like a play based preschool format (sort of). There are play centers in their class rooms which rotate with the other classrooms. They have had play houses with dolls, Halloween sensory bins, and shops with toy money and things to buy. They have a fixed art table in the room as well, which my daughter loves!

More About Preschool

If you want to learn more about our first month of preschool be sure to check out these fun posts on the blog!

Do you feel like now that your child is in preschool you aren’t getting to connect with them as much? This is a feeling I get sometimes! But by being proactive about your time together you can make the best of small quantities! I would totally recommend all the girl mom’s out there grab a copy of the Mother Daughter Activity Book! It is chalk full of mother daughter bonding activities as well as a mother daughter bullet journal to put all the skills your child has learned in preschool to use! Grab your copy here!

Well Mama’s we made it through our first month of preschool!
