That is our list of devices we have found so far that have been impacted by the recent lightning storm that hit our area. I have never been affected so severely by a natural disaster. This is all so new to us. We were told by the repair man that after lightning hits your house your larger appliances like washer drier and refrigerator could go out over the next few days. For some reason they don’t quit immediately. This seems to be the case because our drier quite a day after the storm struck.Further more, we are very lucky that our home did not catch on fire after the lightning strike. Back in my bedroom the fire alarm sounded but there was no fire. We were later advised by a fire fighter friend that it is always wise to watch the house and stay awake after a direct lightning hit because it typically causes fire. We are so lucky. Things could have been much worse. The night of the storm I put my daughter’s crib matters in the hallway so that she could sleep in a secure place with no windows on the interior portion of the home. I slept beside her and we made it through the storm. When we figured out the drier was not working, we had to go to the laundry mat the next day to wash and dry our clothing for school. This was my daughter’s first time to a laundry mat. We got sonic drinks while my mom, daughter, and I waited for our cloths to be done. There was also a little play house on the corner which was a total life saver for parents with kids. We washed our cloths in the washer at home and put them in a plastic tub and took them to dry. We used three different driers to speed up the process! Fortunately there was also WiFi at the laundry mat so I was able to accomplish a couple internet tasks! Win win!And so life will go on until things get repaired. I know our internet won’t be back up untill about 10 days, our air sometime next week hopefully, and the rest, well who knows. You might also like this article of how we prepare for storms as a single mom.Until the internet is back up my daughter and I will be headed to McDonald’s after I get out of class for drinks. We will use wifi there to do her chalk preschool and my homework.Until next time my lovelies,Brie
