We’ve been working hard on enjoying every last bit of summer as the semester starts to rear it’s ugly head again, and times get busier for us College Single Mama’s.

In the past month as summer has been comming to a close for us, we have done tons of fun activities, and are so excited to finally get to share them with you all. Remember the holiday weekend is comming up soon, so many of you Mama’s (myself included) will have an extra day off to enjoy some time with your daughter’s. The items on this list are some great bonding ideas!

1.) Kenetic Sand: Suprise shells!

For this project, we got out a container of kenetic sand, and just started exploring. You can make all kinds of shapes, pretty much anything can be used as a mold for kinetic sand. We put the sand into large shells, along with little gems and smaller sea shells.

What you’ll need:

  • A suprise: gems, beads, small shells etc.
  • Kinetic sand
  • large Sea Shell
  • tray covered with glad wrap

Cover a tray with glad wrap so the mess is super easy to clean up, then use the shell as a and put some kinetic sand in it, along with some of the suprised. The sand will hold together in it’s shell shape till your child starts to poke it or mess with it. Then it will ooze apart. My daughter absolutely loved the suprised activities, and it kept here busy for about an hour!

2.) A Trip to the Pool!

What you’ll need? A public pool, a little life vest or some arm floaties, some sunscreen, and maybe some natchos from the food stand on the side! My daughter loves a good pool adventure, and she has tons of fun meeting new kids in the kiddy area. I love to catch her when she goes down the slide, and help her “jump” into the pool. Totally a fun mommy thing to do with your toddler! At the pool lately I’ve been trying to get my daughter to hang on to the bar/side of the pool and kick her feet in the water. I used to teach swim lessons/be a lifeguard back in my younger days, and I love using my swim teaching skills to help my daughter!

3.) Pick mint leaves, and make fruit infused water.

This activity would require you to have planted mint plants sometime at the beginning of summer or know someone with mint leaves. My daughter loves to pick anything out of the garden though, I imagine most 3 year olds do. (You’ll probably notice the little tomato she snagged from the garden in the photos.) We wended out and picked almost a full sandwich bag of mint leaves and decided to make some mint and fruit infused water with them.

Here’s our recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 15 fresh spearmint leaves (washed)
  • 5 strawberries slice
  • Ice & water

Instructuions:

Mix the ice, strawberries, and mint leaves in a gallon of water, and serve immediately (not alot of flavor) or after several hours of being in the fridge (lots more infused flavor).

4.) Water park at home?

Home is where the fun is, or where the fun is supposed to be sometimes. So why not bring the fun of a water park to your own back yard! If you are anything like me, over the summer (and over the years) you’ve collected tones of outdoor water things for your kiddos, from pools, to water blobs, water balloons, etc. So why not get out all your water stuff, you beach/lawn chairs, and some bubbles and set up a back yard water park day for your daughter! This could also work for sons, but I’m a little bias since I only have a daughter. I always get so excited when I get to tell about or supper fun bonding activities and this is one of them. Here’s the list of fun ideas for building your own water park:

  • Water blob mat: ours is an H2O Go mat
  • Plastic kiddy pool
  • Plastic stemmed glasses with water pitcher
  • Box of dirt for sensory activities
  • Toy dinosaurs for your daughter to play with in the dirt
  • Cups/bowls/things to pour with
  • Lawn chairs to relax in
  • A water hose to spray each other.

5.) Diy Photo Holders, for all your summer memories.

These photo holders where so simple to make. We had a blast painting rocks, and glittering them. Then I wrapped them with wire and left some that would stand up. We threaded a few beads on the wire to make them fancy. Then I curled the top of the wire around a sharpy marker so it would be large enough to hold small photos.
