Are your kids as crazy as mine have been in the evenings? I don’t know if it is the winter weather, or the quarantine, but there is just so much energy at night time after school gets out that it is insane. We have the slide set up in the living room, as well as the ball pit, the yoga ball and often times the dance mat. Yea, I’ll admit we look like a kids playground in here. But this is how we winter quarantine in here. Would you believe that this is not enought to get all the energy out??? It seems just absolutely unreal to have a kid bouncing off the couches (and all these other things set up in our living room). So, I started doing some structured dance nights with the dog. So, dancing and dogs. We have an insanely interjetic dog that will jump off slides, couches and all other manner of things as well, so they fit right in together. Where she is always wiggling around it looks like she is dancing. It works out great! If you don’t have a dog, you can still have some awesome dance parties with these songs! Lets dive into the kid (and dog approved) play list.
Reindeer Pokey
I know this is a Christmas song but it is fun for any time of year. It is super easy for kids to get into and we still have Christmas trees ups so it totally counts!
Freeze Dance Song!
This one is a high energy one and great to start out your dance party with because kids love it.
Winter Pokey for Kids:
This one is as easy as the other pokey song, my daughter liked it just as much!
Christmas Freeze Dance:
Simon Says:
Bunny Hops:
We have such a mix of holidays in this dance party, that makes it so much fun. Here is an Easter themed dance.
Skeleton Dance:
Skeleton dance is a Halloween themed dance.
If you are wearing…
This one is a very interesting song if the kiddos are wearing a lot of colors. for this dance party my daughter has on a tone of different colors.
Move:
This song has a great beat to it. Even if the kids are super wired up and they are just going wild this beat really does catch their attention and they start doing the dance moves. My daughter was “done with this dance party” and I discovered this one and the beat just riggered her back in! love it!
Gummy bear song:
My daughter has always been a big fan of this song! It is such an odd little thing, I have to say. Just a gummy bear dancing around.
Gummy Bear Jingle Bells
After that it was just kind of a land slide into the gummy bears. I’m really not the biggest fan of them I discovered after watching this second song. so we stopped there.
Other Activities for kids:
But there are so many other activities that you can do as well to keep kids entertained indoors! Lets go onto a few of these other activities now.
Pom Pom Cup Toss:
You can host a pom pom cup toss for the kiddos right in your living room! We did an entire post on pom poms last winter season and different ideas of activities that you can do with them. BUT one of them is the pom pom cup toss. For this came, all you have to do is have some pom poms and cups set up. Or a basket if you are out of cups! Then have the kids throw pom poms. One at a time or by the hand fulls will do until they are out. Then see how many they got in the buckets or cups! You can make it a county activity, a timed race to get them moving like how fast they can collect the pom poms or get rid of them, etc. It is all around fun. You can read more about our adventures with this activity as well as more pom pom activities here. We had the other dog out (little old man dog for this one) and he went around trying to eat the pom poms like treats, so I really don’t recommend having dogs out with this activity.
Balloon Badminton
This activity we did awhile back on the blog, you can check out the full how to guide here. It is so easy to create a ton of really fun indoor games out of very simple materials. If you have lots of paper plates on hand and some sticks or Popsicle sticks you can create some DIY “badminton pallets for you and the kiddos. Then, use something light to hit back and forth. The best thing is a balloon, but you could also use some crumpled paper balls too!
Indoor slide:
We have one of these little tikes indoor slides and they are so sturdy. We have had it for generations, literally and it is still amazing! You can buy one on amazon here if you are looking for an alternative to the park right now, or if you just need something for the kids to do inside.
Thanks for stopping by today to check out just a few fun ideas for this winter’s indoor play adventures!
