This definitely deserves a place in the Monday Memories Series! Just those sweet heartwarming things little kids will do. It was one of those little awe moments that are so appreciated and just make you smile. Let me set the backstory for you a little bit. It had been one of our rougher days. For this day we did our usual homeschool, I had cooked dinner, and completed a final for a course. Sounds pretty basic, but the mood was just so off. I had heavy GI symptoms that day, so there was a lot of frequent trips to the bathroom. It was after a stelara injection which always changes my mood, so I had this horribly deep dread sad feeling whatever you want to call it. I was pretty pretty snippy as well. I knew it was the medicine, because it has that affect on me every time I take it. I was also really exhausted. But again, homeschool, final, dinner/meals. We pushed through. I try to take all that flare with the stelara injection and just hide it all deep inside. Plaster the fake smile, put on a little more makeup etc. It’s like a battle of wits with myself. Rational thought knows it’s just the injection. But the snippy side will still ooze through the cracks in the “mask” so to speak sometimes. Things like spills and messes, stepping on a lego, the dogs not cooperating, if clutter is going to bother me or too many toys/ cloths that don’t fit in drawers this is the time it becomes a crisis lol. If I’m going to be upset about an assignment it’s going to be sometime after a stelara because everything is so much worse then, but in reality I just kinda float through it. They never really get to me unless I’m pumped full of biologic.
So, that’s the backstory of the type of day we were having (for me). I’m fake smiling with cracks in it. Visiting the bathroom a few more times then usual. We are getting through our normal routine. My daughter is this BUCKET FULL OF SASSY. I have no idea why but she is a mood entirely of her own. Rarely is she this sassy. It was an off day all together.
The awe moment!
So, I put her to bed with some nightime tv and got into a nice bath. I like to do some reading in the bath to help me unwind. I heard her rustling around and figured she had gotten up to play with some of her toys for a bit. She does this pretty often before laying back down to sleep. If I saw, are you in bed, she scampers back to bed and says, yes. Lol but anyway on this specific night I didn’t say anything and let her play. When I got out of the bath she had gotten back into bed and was asleep after watching her tv. Instead of playing with her toys she had taken her blankets that she plays with and folded them all up. Then she had folded the towels and wash cloths that I hadn’t folded yet. She had even taken little old man dogs blanket and made it look like a couch for him next to the two stacks. It was litteraly the sweetest thing! They were both asleep. So in the morning I made sure to thank her for it when she woke up. She got the biggest smile on her face and gave me a big hug. It was such a sweet moment and a really nice end to a difficult day.
