Thanksgiving Decorations and Tips for Lockdown

Just because the stay at home orders are going up, doesn’t mean you can’t decorate your home for YOU and those who live within it for the holidays. Now more than ever it is important to add a bit of cheer for the holidays! We brought our garden plants inside earlier this fall to create a sort of green house for them and hopefully have HUGE plants next spring to put back outside. You can read all about that here. But to go along with that theme my daughter and I created a cute garden inspired table centerpiece!

Thanksgiving Pillows:

for the Thanksgiving theme I am going with the leafy, whites, greens, etc sort of theme. The first piece of this lovely theme are these beautiful Thanksgiving pillows! Thanksgiving Bouquet

As far as center pieces go, or just decorations in general, these natural white cotton stems from amazon (shop here) make the most beautiful looking bouquets! It would be the perfect touch to any white/green/farmhouse themed thanksgiving decorations. I mean just look at them. They come with 20 stems to a pack which is fantastic. You could make several bouquets out of them!

The Perfect Zoom Background Wall Decoration!

This is by far the perfect zoom background wall decoration for the theme! This giant white wash clock is amazing. Just this splash of symetry, and it would be perfect to leave up in your house all year round. Not just to go with the thanksgiving theme! Home Sign

To make the space a little more cozy and garden themed with the whites and greens for Thanksgiving check out this adorable home sign! It is just the cutest! Not only could you put it up in your home but you could also put it on your front door as a little outdoor Thanksgiving decoration. We went for a short drive and there were just not enough outdoor Thanksgiving decorations these days! Shop this fun sign on amazon here!

Place Mats:

These green place mats would look beautiful on the white embossed leaf table cloth from above! With some cute paper plates on them too eat off of it would make for a very easy to clean thanksgiving dinner! PLUS it would protect that white table cloth for at least 1 more holiday! Paper Plates!

I love the mess free aspect of paper plates. Plus I love that you can always have a new design (and they are pretty cheap). So for this set’s thanksgiving it would be totally cute to go with the white and gold polka dot plates. It would pull from the white of the table cloth. The golds and browns of the pillows and the cotton stems. Just a lovely combination. Plus they are not too overwhelming. 2020 Thanksgiving Safety Tips!

Since this is a pandemic year the CDC put out their list of guidelines for thanksgiving and many of the safety tips. They have a nice chart to help you determine risk factors for different ways to celebrate this upcoming holiday season. The safest way is to celebrate with the holiday is with those who live inside your home. Some of the unsafest ways to celebrate are to travel via air travel or to hot spots around the nation. BUT pretty much everywhere in the United States is on the rise! Zoom family and friends who don’t live with you. Read all about the CDC’s safety protocols here.

Zoom Family and Friends that don’t live with you:

• You can do things like set up a fun zoom backgrounds and show off your fun decorations to family and friends over zoom. This will give you something to talk about besides the politics and the turmoil that is going on in this world right now.
• Try making fun thanksgiving trivia games in PowerPoint or Canva and then doing some screen share over zoom for trivia games.
• Watch a classic thanksgiving movie or the Macy’s day parade broadcast with the family over zoom.
• Prepare a virtual vacation in slides with a few short 4k videos or photos. have everyone guess where it is!

Ways to keep up with “normal” traditions and not feel stressed:

• Accept that things will look different this year.
• Have a meal if that’s something you normally do.
• Watch football or a movie if you normally do that and you can always tune into zoom to do it with the family.
• Decorate for Christmas on thanksgiving if that’s something you do because you can do it at home.
• Do your black Friday shopping ONLINE instead of in stores to help stop the spread.
