I signed my daughter up for the Abeka Academy k5 program for this year. Our sign up for it was back at the end of May, but since the school year is fast approaching and everything is up in the air with schools I figured I would pop on and share with you all about how easy the sign up process was. As well as why I chose this schooling route for my daughter for kindergarten.

Why homeschool this year?

(Remember this was back when stay at home orders were in full swing!) As Part of the stay at home order and being high risk for covid-19, I decided I didn’t want my daughter attending a brick and mortar school this fall. This transition is super easy because she is going to be going into kindergarten. I didn’t have to have her transcripts sent over, or officially withdraw her form any public school. If you are putting your child into the Abeka Academy in an older grade, then you do have to send a transcript from the previous school because the online academy is accredited.

I must say the sign up process was so easy! I just brought the k5 Abeka Academy program. Since it was still May I got an early bird discount which gave us an automatic $50 off the price! This discount runs through the end of June! After making the purchase I was prompted to make a parent account for myself. I could choose a 10 month payment plan or pay in full. I could also choos the week I wanted our book package to ship out on!

Once my account was set up I then had to set up my daughters account. I needed must the basic information and to come up with a user name and password. Then I completed the enrollment. The site walks you through the whole process.

The Dash Board Set Up!

You can even let the kiddos customize their dash board color within the site! There is a calendar with the events set up and each of the classes and video lessons to keep everything super organized and on track! It really takes the planning off your hands! I loved this part because everything my daughter needs to learn this year is already there in the videos and books. Its not going to be like I am grabbing at straws trying to come up with lessons, while pursuing my masters degree, and keeping up the house, and this endless battle with her asthma.

Enrollment Accepted!

Our enrollment was confirmed without a hitch over a one day period! I then received an orientation email with confirmation that my child was going to be home schooled. They said this could work as our letter of intent if our state required one (it does not). Furthermore they sent out a website where you could check your state laws and make sure all your ducks are in a row. The thing that I most wanted to know was when grades were due. These dates were included in the orientation email! So, if you enroll, be sure to watch for that!

BIG BOX of Books

I also got a confirmation that our big box of books would be shipping out soon after the enrollments. BUT even though we ordered way back in may one of the items was still on back order. it is somewhere states away just sitting at a FedEx now, but we have the rest of them. I don’t think it will hinder our start date or effect our process to much because it is just one of the teachers manual for me. This could mean that enrolling in the academy now might be harder to get supplies…

When we got our box, we let it set for a week to air out. THEN we did our grand unboxing. This is just half the box! There were so many books that it was overwhelming.

Which Category do you fit in?

I got another email early on after signing up for the academy. It was geared twoard parents like me. Instead of enrollment stuff that we had been getting. It illustrated the two different types of home school life styles. Ill let you see some screenshots here:

I decided that we fit into the teal category base on our circumstances. I am literally homeschooling so that we survive the pandemic.

Thank you for stopping by today to learn all about our plans for the up and coming school year! I just love getting to create posts like this!
