Raised Garden Project!

With the world in a complete up roar and our lives in isolation for official three months now, I must say our grass has never been so green and lush! It has never been so comforting, or relaxing to simply sit by the garden and watch my daughter dig around! With our extended time at home we decided it would be great to start a garden and our little bit red neck way of going about it was to turn the old swimming pools into raised garden beds!

This way it keeps the animals (mainly our garden loving dog) out of the gardens! Plus it was far cheaper than constructing one from just wood! We had the pools on hand from the previous years, and scrap wood was Available from the barn build of the past year!

Seedlings

I don’t recall taking any photos of our little seedlings (which is odd) until I got them moved into our raised garden. But we have grown 2 banana pepper plants and 4 batches of tomato plants from seeds. As of right now we have lost one of our tomato plants. I think it was too small to be placed out in the gardens. I haven’t planted the two pepper plants out in the gardens yet because they are still too small. We also have a gnome garden in our tomato bin. Beside it is the plants we grew from seedlings

Other plants:

We bought several plants off of a friend as well because in the Early days we didn’t think our little seedlings would survive. We bought two very hardy tomato plants which currently have tomatoes on them. We bought 4 green pepper plants, and 2 cucumber plants! All of which are still alive! I just got them planted in the gardens over the weekend! This photo is of the tomato plant we purchased.

Lettuce and Beans:

We planted some lettuce seed in an empty patch of the larger garden and then some garden beans in an empty patch of the smaller garden. It is my hope that the beans and cucumbers plants will flow over the sides of the raised garden! I think the winding vines of the plants spilling over the sides of the garden would look quite magical!

Finished Garden Set-up!

Here is an top view of our gardens! I absolutely love them! It is so nice to spend the evenings by the gardens! I have recently discovered it is so nice to sitting out here and blog while I listen to my daughter chatter about her plants of the evenings! I figured the very best way to blog about my gardens was to actually be in and among my gardens! The cool air of tonight is wonderful. The sun has lowered and the evening green of everything just pops!

The lower rock area with the various assortment of branches is where my daughter likes to dig around and plant small tree branches in!
