I can’t believe it has been almost a week since we officially started social distancing. (This post is about last Friday, so by the time y’all are seeing it it will have been over a week).
Today I went through with some very BIG decisions. They were hard but had to be done.
Bye-Bye Daycare:
I went in to sign the daycare forms and make the final payment to the facility. I collected my daughter’s things and apparently was the fifth person to pull my kiddo out of the school. With me not working and having absolutely NO WHERE to go, I figured bit would be much safer for my daughter to just pull her out. Her teacher said that she was surprised the school was still up and running (they were half staffed).
It is so surreal to have to do that, and to know that she will never again see those people as I will never again see the people that I worked with or went to college with because I am a graduating senior. But for the sake of safety things must be done!
Stay at Home Activity Ideas!
We were able to do a few activities today, but we are still recovering quite a bit. You can read about our Flu diagnosis here! There have been tons of great resources we have found as well to help you connect to the outside world without having to be face to face with them.
- The first one is the Pete the cat official Instagram page. Every weekday the author of Pete the cat does a live story time with the kiddos from one of his books! My daughter loves listening to these. He also gives some back story into his life!
- Another great resource is the hands on as we grow activity room. We have been a member of the activity room since last September now, and they give great activity ideas. Today, Jamie hosted a live story time which we tuned into! Just another way to feel connected.
- We must be on a books kick because two weeks ago we returned all our library books and didn’t Check anymore out. I decided it would be better to not, because I didn’t know what we would end up doing. (Good thing we didn’t check more out!) Our library hasn’t closed but they do have an awesome program called tumble books library that brings animated books to kids online. So, now we don’t have to go in. For this service you don’t even need a library card! It’s great! Be sure to ask you library about tumble books too!
- Now that I’m off the book kick let’s get on to the explosives shall we? We have been playing with a DIY volcano experiment set! You can order one here if you like. We have been mixing baking powder and vinegar (and some food coloring) to watch the volcano erupt. My daughter finds this so amusing. She could probably use and entire gallon of vinegar watching the eruption over and over again if I let her!
Well, that’s about it for our day in “isolation” or social distancing, whatever you want to call it! Be sure to stick around for more of our social distancing journey here on the blog. We are trying to post every weekday! Leave some comments down below about where you all are posting about your social distancing experience, and we will try to follow along!
