Recently I had been considering opening an I home daycare while I tried to make it through an online grad school program. I’m not sure if this idea will pan out or not but I did some research into the steps I would need to figure out for how to start an in home daycare. I figured I would share them with you all today. Just in case it’s something you Mama’s have been looking into too!

Fun Add-ons:

Some of the steps I decided I would have to undergo are listed below! We already have tons of toys…like I mean TONS of them!!!! So that wouldn’t be an expense I would have to come up with up front. If you aren’t in that boat though, toys can be pretty pricey!

I linked the items you would need to create an adorable rainbow preschool theme in my amazon picks below! This is easily shop-able and you can buy all your items in one place!

How to Start an In home Day Care: Schedule

I also came up with a schedule, yes I will admit I am an obsessive planner! For this i was anticipating having the daycare open between the hours of 7:30am to 5:30 pm. I loved the idea of including preschool, play time, and just all around fun!

7:30-9:00 kids arriving + breakfast

9:00-10:00 Play time (in or out)

10:00-11:00 Chalk Preschool online

11:00-11:30 pick up clean up time

11:30-12:30 lunch

12:30-1:00 bathroom + dig out mats story time!

1:00-3:00 nap time/rest

3:00-3:30 school kids + snacks time

3:30-4:30 play time + school hw.

4:30 start cleaning up

5:00-5:30 kids pick up

Licensing:

I was reviewing my state license program and realized that I would need to take about 6 classes to become a licensed daycare facility. To register your daycare under anything BUT my legal given name I would have to pay an extra fee and get an extra license. I guess that’s why most of the daycares around here are not named cute little names!

For starting a licensed daycare you can also get financial reimbursement for meals in my state so be sure to check out your state laws as well! Each state is regulated differently and allows you too keep a different amount of kids if you are a licensed vs unlicensed establishment! Cross your Ts and dot your eyes on these laws Mama’s! It will protect you in the future!
