Children have fantastic imaginations. My daughter loves to invent things. Wither it’s a paper watchama call-it or a conglomeration of her toys thing-a-magig, she is always creating something! We decided to start doing a stem and sensory lab with our home school program each week. Today we are going to be discussing some fun examples of “labs you can create on the fly, that will be fun, inventive, and simple. They can also act as self driven homeschool items, so that you can do things like make dinner while they play at the table, or even do a homework assignment yourself if your a college student like me.For each of the four labs, provide the. Materials listed, then give your child the open ended prompt provide with the lab and see what their creative minds come up with!!!
The potion making lab:
Prompt: create magic wizard potions and think of fun things they can do. Like maybe one could turn someone invisible, or make their nose grow bigger.
- Water colors or food diy
- Paint brushes
- 3 cups of water
The trap/building making lab:
Prompt: can you make the coolest house or trap to catch something?
- Tooth picks
- Marshmallows
- Painters tape
- Plastic blocks
- Kleenex
The mermaid island inventor lab:
Prompt: it’s time to make the perfect paradise for tiny mermaids to live in!
- Play-Doh
- Pipe cleaners
- Noodles
- Marbles or button
Dirt cake lab:
Prompt: it’s time to make a dirt cake or treat….but don’t actually eat it!!!!
