One Year Blogiversary!

Hey Mama’s,

Today is a really exciting day, it marks my one year blogiversary of mom blogging.  The market of mommy bloggers is pretty saturated so as a first-year blogger you are able to see tons of examples and get to know some really great mom bloggers that have niched down to a very similar, if not the same niche of mom blogging that you have. This has honestly been one of the things I like most about blogging!

About My Year As A Blogger

First off, I wanted to say how proud I am of myself that I have kept up with my blog for a full year. For me writing is a way for me to express myself, its my therapy, it captures memories, its fun, and it is rewarding. My blog is a place for me to put my writing out there so that maybe it can have an audience, and maybe help people or be amusing for them to read. I host my blog through the Bluehost self-hosting service and I recently renewed for another year. If you are looking to start a blog, I have to say that Bluehost is my favorite hosting provider. I just looks and runs so sleek. You can start you own blog here, so that one day you can look back at how far you have come over a year.

Blogging/Writing History:

For me blogging didn’t start just a year ago. It all started about 10 years ago or so in one of my classes back in high school. We had to create a little Weebly website about some history topic we thought was “important” I don’t honestly know if I could find that old website anymore. But from then on I loved It. Next, I created a WATTPAD account and wrote some short stories that never really grew any traction, but I was proud of them none the less. I wrote and wrote and then my account got hacked. That was the end of my WATTPAD career. I went on to create another blog with Weebly about the topic of clean living and recycling, and stuff like that. I grew bored with it. At the time I absolutely thought that was my passion though. Finally, when I became pregnant I created yet another blog, this was a free WordPress one and I truly wish I would have continued this blog. I got sick and scared to write and ended up taking down all my posts (like maybe all 4 of them??) and deleted that old blog.

Top Read Posts:

Now I have been blogging a year strong, so In honor of my one year anniversary blogging I decided to look back over the year at my posts, and other blogging successes. My top three posts over the past year have been Sex and the Single Mom, Summer Class Brings on a New Phase in Life, and Lonely Nights. The last two surprised me when I was looking through my blog stats today. But they are very close to two other posts that are working their way up in the numbers.

New Additions Over the Year:

I also have been working on giving my blog a bit of a face lift too! You can see the NEW and IMPROVED about page and home page.  This is something I had been wanting to update for awhile and finally got around to doing it. As you have noticed over the year I also added things like Bluehost affilliate links to my site where I can get paid if someone starts up their own blog, as well as other product affiliate links through the viglinks affiliate marketing service. As far as products go, I have a shop as well as a free downloadable E book!

Realistic of the first year blogging.

On a lot of blogs, you read that blogging is a “get rich quick scheme” then on some other, more practical blogs, you read that it takes YEARS to build up your audience. I have found that in a heavily saturated blog niche such as mom blogs the later is the case. The big bloggers have been around since before blogging became “cool” over a decade ago. One thing that really inspired me was reading this blog post about the growth projection of a blog. If you are struggling because your first year blog isn’t making you much money, or getting 100’s of thousands of viewers per week, this will help you. For me In a year, exuding the “summer slump that all blogs go through” less readers start coming in summer because people start actually having lives. But anyway, I was able to get up to 130,000 monthly Pinterest viewers, which translated to about 60 to 100 daily blog visitors and 3 email subscribers. The Top number Of visitors I had in one day was 120! To me this is growth, from the beginning, everyone starts out at ZERO. Just to give you a bit of a range of the people who see my blog, I decided to show my Stats map. My blog has been visited by people from 84 different countries over the past year! The red indicates where I receive the most viewers from and the peach indicates countries I have received viewers from.

A big thanks to everyone who is reading my blog, and to my wonderful subscribers!!!! Can’t wait for another great year of blogging ahead, I have some great posts planned! I would love to hear you opinions and ideas for the next year in the comments!
