I just got home from another outting where I was pretty much a hot mess single mom. For outings we always get all kinds of dolled up. I do my hair, gel my nails, my little girl gets dolled up to. She carries her sparkly purses wears her little dresses, necklaces, it’s like whole 9 yards kind of glammed-up. Let’s just say this probably draws a lot of unnecessary attention to us, but I feel like we don’t get out as much as we should. It’s just something really fun and a way to make it special.

Anyways, for this particular outing as well as for our last, I feel like I just did not have it pulled together. Now usually I have everything organized and I’m like okay I am here, I am ready, this is what we’re going to do, but I feel like lately we have just had with all the winter coats and the scarves I just have my hands full.

We’ll go ahead and talk about today’s outing first. It was a paid out which I know my New year’s resolution said that I was going to make plans for free outings, and don’t worry we had one of those too! We’ll talk about that one too later on down in this post.

On our paid outing we had a lot of fun. We went to two different stores shopping, and we also took our little dog to the pet store. Which was kind of crazy. It’s something I’ve never done with my daughter, and it went a lot better than I expected it to. If you haven’t taken your child on the experience of bringing a pet along to the store, I totally recommend this mother daughter activity and pet activity.

For a first part of our paid activity this is actually one where we got some decor for the upcoming holiday because I absolutely love decorating the house. We also got some really cute stretch bands which will be another mother daughter activity at TJ Maxx they came in a pack of three for $4 which was a great deal at Walmart you literally they would cost you like $10 a piece. My daughter absolutely loves walking around TJ Maxx and the first thing we walked into with all of their sparkly jewelry on sale she loves the big gaudy sparkly necklaces. I almost got her one but I thought they might be too heavy for her little neck, maybe in the years to come will have to pick one up. I think we got a really good picture of one so we’ll go ahead and insert it here.

TJ Maxx is such a great store to take your kid into because it’s not only does it have toys, clothes, bags, purses, anything you can think of for a kid, it even has snacks, and our local TJ Maxx also has live plants. It was a really cute to look at because I love gardening stuff.

On to some of the pet store shenanigans! When we first took in our little dog it was evident he wasn’t really prepared for it. You could definitely tell it’s been quite a few years since he’s gone to a store. He wanted to make a beeline for the exit but when we got him outside after leaving he wanted to make a beeline back into the store, so he did like it. We got him a really cute puppy dog toy to lay his head on and take naps because an old dog. He loves taking naps but not so much chewing on toys. Occasionally he does bring some of my daughter’s toys to his bed when he finds them and it’s kind of humorous to see what all he brings of hers in. We’ve had plastic unicorns, crayons which he typically eats and we’ve also had Play-Doh.

This is definitely a great mother daughter bonding experience. It took us probably three to four hours just to mosey around the stores and take our pet in. If you have a couple hours on a weekend or just even an evening during the week that you’re not working (or if you’re a stay-at-home mom during the day is totally better because the stores are not as crowded) I recommend taking your daughter on a special shopping trip with her pet. Just a special shopping trip all glammed up with her purse to your local TJ Maxx or even Ross’s would still be fun!

Now you talk about our free outing. We went to the library program for free outing it was really fun for my daughter to get involved with the little kids that came as well. this is another part where the hot mess comes in. When we walk into the library program I took off the coat and actually ended up dropping it on the floor. when I went to pick it up my purse switch off my shoulder and I dropped it. Yes I’m glad she was standing in front of me and didn’t see that part. I’m such a mess of a mom sometimes. Any way past that through the activity was really fun there was singing and dancing reading books and doing a fun craft. We don’t often get to go to the library program because I typically have class when the program is running. I hope to hit more library programs this summer and tell you all about them. The program we went to as a snowman themed program which is pretty typical for winter. My daughter made an adorable little snowman.
