I started slacking with our homeschool preschool routine in the fall, and got even slackyer as the winter went on (if that’s an actual word). Now my aim as been to really kick it into gear and get teaching in our homeschool program. I love having preschool bucket lists to go by for the extra stuff. This way I have simple activities with minimal prep time. Aside from these activities, there are three, key preschool activities that are a necessity for every day (Monday through Friday) learning. Believe it or not, they really don’t take that much time. Its not like I need to really tell you what these activities are, they are pretty basic and pretty easy to figure out. With that said, it think its always good to have the refresher. If you literally have time for nothing else, strive to do these Homeschool Preschool Musts.

Homeschool Preschool MUSTS:

1. Read a book:

Reading a book or two is a great bonding activity, pointing to the words teaches sight words and letters, and lastly books inspire creativity. With this it really doesn’t mater if you check out library books or just reread the ones you own. This activity only takes about five to ten minutes to do and it is well worth your time.

2. Sing the ABC’s:

This takes what 30 seconds to a minute to do, sing it a couple times and it’ll take a couple minutes. I don’t know the age that children should know their ABC’s but I’ve heard repetitive singing is the easiest way to memorize them.

3. Count to ten on your fingers:

This is another few second activity, you could do it in ten seconds flat if you really must. You could also take your time and sing the one little two little three little Indian song. For further guidance on this topic: Check out our 10 little Indians lesson plan!

Bonus: Make it fun!

Making learning fun at the preschool age encourages life long learners! So, lets make learning fun together! Create a pretend store for the afternoon with your kiddos and teach them all about real world applications such as money, credit cards, and gift cards! We have the perfect printable set to make it super easy on you mama!

If your kids are a little too young to learn about these concepts then tone it down and teach basic colors shapes, and matching with the set to! It is pretty universal!

Needing something to read for your homeschool preschool musts (no. 1)

We love the frozen 5 minute story book! They are super easy reads and make for great bedtime stories. Furthermore, this book is just so aesthetically pleasing to set on my daughters cute table or somewhere else around the room! It is a definite must have in any home library! The new Frozen 2 story based off the movie is in this version! Get it here!

Another book I love reading to my daughter is The Story. It is an easy to read chronological version of the bible! It is enjoyable for the both of us and teaches us about GOD! Get yourself a copy here!

We love Pete the Cat anything around our home! We got started on Pete the cat when we went to a library program and got a free copy of Pete the Cat the Wheels on the Bus. You can view some of our favorite Pete the Cat books here:
