I wish I could wrap of the feeling of this Christmas weekend and send it through the internet to your house, Mama’s. It was absolutely magical, and the words of this blog could never do it justice.

Just to sit in peace and and enjoy ba cup of hot cocoa with family, was absolutely amazing. We did this while we watch the classic movie: Polar Express. I hope you get the feeling of this kind of joy this Christmas season Mama’s.

For a single mama the holidays can be hard, I know, I get it. Money is tight, and loneliness sets in with the stark blank whole of a lacking significant other in your life. So just know that you single mama are not alone this holiday season, there are so many other single Mama’s like this who know the trials.

Christmas Movies with Snacks:

But you don’t need a lot of money to experience this kind of peaceful Christmas weekend with your family. All you need is a Christmas movie (family video has free kids ones) and a snack of some sort. Take your Sunday and relax with the family. Watch a good Christmas move, make some cups of hot cocoa to share, and maybe a bit of popcorn. This is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. Like I said earlier we had the polar Express. It’s just such a magical movie, and it’s “hot hot hot hot chocolate” bit goes great with that cup of hot cocoa.

Of course what is a Christmas season without making a gingerbread house?

It’s been tradition since my daughter was born each year we make a gingerbread house! This year as I was looking through the gingerbread houses with my daughter at the store, I say there $10+ price tags and I did a gulp. There you have it. My credit card was sweating already, and another $10 was a worry for me. So I decided to get creative, and a little old fashion. Typically the gingerbread cookies are broken up, and we have to use hot glue and all kinds of icing to cover their flaws. So I thought, why not make one out of things we already have in the cabinet? That random box of Graham crackers in the back of the cabinet, and that half used container of icing that’s been in the fridge since the last who knows who’s birthday, would work perfectly. I don’t know about you, but we have quite the sprinkle collection that’s built up in the top shelf of the fridge as well!

So we cut out some gingerbread house parts out of the Graham crackers. If you need a better idea of how to cut it out, we “pinterested” it and came up with this GREAT resource: here.

We added icing, and all kinds of sprinkles and the cheap pepperments for out path. If you ask me it turned out just as good as any box house!
