I decided to do a post on gratitude because I really need to study what it means to be grateful. I have been a “Debbie Downers” for awhile now. Just being hit over and over by things that I couldn’t control. And let me tell ya mamas, boy am I a whiner! as you read through this post you will see the significance phrase!.
I was able to come up with a list of resources, past and present that have helped me see gratitude in a different light, as well as just life in general. I hope all of you find these resources helpful as you experience so gratitude and gratefulness on this thanksgiving!

Before we dive right into the fantastic blogs and literature I have pulled together, I wanted to go over the list of things I am grateful for as a single mom this fall:

1. I am grateful to be able to spend thanksgiving with my daughter.

2. I am grateful to be able to watch my daughter grow up.

3. I am grateful my daughter only has asthma, and no other serious health conditions.

4. I am grateful my Crohns disease is going back into remission.

5. I am grateful God took away the emotional pain in my heart and brought me into a state of acceptance.

6. I am grateful that I get to spend Thanksgiving with my family.

7. I am grateful for my darling little dog, and that he is still alive.
8. I am grateful that God reopened my eyes and once again called me to him after a period of flopping out on my own.

9. I am grateful God Provides what we need.

10. I am grateful for my BLOG!

This one is extra special because you can continue to update the list in the comments. When I read it they were up to 21.
I love what Bethany Baird says in this blog post! Its very convicting. You can either be a whiner or worshiper this thanksgiving, for me I’m more of a whiner I have to admit. BUT I would rather be a worshiper. Take a look at the post and decide which you want to be!

Foreshadowing on the BLOG: Break UP?
I found a post with my research that foreshadows some of the touchy topics I will be dealing with later on in my blog. Thank you so much for this post from the gals over at girl defined.

With this link, you can preview the first 88 pages or so on google for free! This book was very convicting to me. it goes into the whole whine or worship thing (from the above resource) in a little more detail. this is a book that in the first 25 pages outlines why gratitude is important. and why a whiners spirit leads down a road of bitterness and broken relationships. Think of the relationships in your life be it the one with your daughter, family, or even significant other. There are so many relationships in my life that I don’t want ruined by my whinny spirit.

This is a challenge I participated in last November, and it was amazing. Its the Revive our hearts 30 day gratitude challenge (all on one website page.)
