These are three moms that I don’t want to be like. But perhaps before you jump in and think I’m being just a bit judgmental, just know I didn’t seek out these stories on the web. I love reading the news, and If I must admit it is one of my favorite pass time when I get a moment to myself. I’m a bit of a news addict if you will.

Each time I would read the news, and see a parenting example or Mom that I DEFINITELY DON’T want to be like I would copy the link to the story. I guess my thought was if I knew everything I didn’t want to be. I would be that much closer to being the “perfect” mom that I did want to be, and I could learn from their mistakes. So, if you are wanting to check out some tips on what kind of parent not to be, here are three that I’ve come across lately:

1.) The mom who neglects her kid to party:

2.) The mom who left her kid in the car, after she let them play in it.

(Now I’ll admit that at times we can all be a little scatter brained, and over and over I read of this legitimate problem in the news where kids are being left in the car, because parents are in a hurry. I feel like I am having to leave the house earlier and earlier anymore, so I have decided to come up with a little something as a way to make sure I get my kid out of the car seat.

I decided to keep a sign in my front seat, something big and bright as a reminder when I grab my purse. I’ll take the note and place it back in my daughter’s car seat when I get to work to get out of my car, ya know I can’t miss it because it right under my purse. That way I know I have literally double checked she’s not in it.

You can print this one out too, and do the same if you like:

3.) The Mom who Plays on her phone too much

I’ll sadly admit I’m guilty of this one. I am totally addicted to my smart phone. And reading the news. On one such occasion my daughter literally hid my phone in a little shoe box when I get to get dinner out of the oven. Yea, this is definitely something I need to work on. In this article the recommend a NO PHONE ZONE IN THE HOUSE. and I really like that idea. Except for me, I am thinking of a no phone time instead of a no phone specific area. I do most of my blogging and take photos of all our activities on my phone. So, I’ll definitely have to figure out what I want to nip this bad habit in the butt.
