The first farm-related preschool lesson is the “cut and paste” farm animal worksheet to help your young homeschooler with fine motor skills. This is a two-page worksheet set you can download for free.

1. Free Preschool Farm Printable

2.) Garden Veggies Size

General Info:

  • 5 minutes
  • Size difference, item identification
  • Garden Veggies of different sizes

This was a super simple size comparison activity, and my daughter had way more fun than doing a “circle the bigger one” work sheets. For this we had some garden zucchini, and some tomatoes. I would hold up two veggies and she would pick the bigger or smaller one, whichever I asked. Then we lined them up based on size.

3.) Down on the farm sensory Activity

General Info:

  • 45 minutes
  • Sensory play, farm, market, animal sounds
  • Rice, oats, four, water, bowl, dipping plate, plastic farm animals

This was one of out lengthier play based preschool projects, but sensory projects usually take more time (one of the reasons we can’t do them daily). I sectioned a dipping plate, (the middle was water), then put oats, rice, and flour on the plate so my little girl could get a feel for the different textures. We pretended that this plate was the barn for her plastic animals, she would have them run around in all the textures, drink water or take a bath in it, and we made the animal sounds for all the animals she had out while we played. Eventually the middle watering hole got a little mucky, so I got her a separate bowl for a watering hole. She had a blast!

4.) Cow Says Moo Story Time

General Info:

  • 5 minutes
  • Animals sounds, reading
  • Cow Says Moo book, plastic farm animals

I love this book for my toddler and it worked great today for our down on the farm lessons! She had all of her little plastic farm animals set up for a fancy tee party, and reading this book was their entertainment.

5.) Paper Snakes

General Info:

  • 20 minutes
  • Motor Skills, Colors
  • Paper, Markers, craft eyes, stickers, crayons, safety sicissors

For this activity, I had drew snakes on some paper and had my daughter color them. Then I let her cut them out with some safety sicissors, and put stickers and eyes on them. I had been wanting to integrate some cute crafts into or play based preschool curriculum. Not worksheets because that wasn’t really working for us, but still something that she would have to sit down and work on.
