Top Crafts For Preschoolers Learning Colors (Homeschool Lessons)

Last Updated on May 1, 2022 by Brie

I’ve really been getting into this play based preschool curriculum. To be honest when I am watching for learning opportunities for my daughter they pop up left and right! It’s so much more enjoyable than trying to get her to sit down and do a worksheet she’s not learning from anyway. Today we are going to talk about a couple of activities we’ve been doing using some really cheap supplies, to learn color and shape unites.

Potion Making

General Info:

  • Colors, Creativity, Motor Skills
  • 25 minutes
  • Water, Plastic cup, Paint brush, Water color paints

My daughter played potion making, and she had a blast stirring her potions! That’s where the mother skills came in. She would dip her paint brush into different colors and mix them in the water. I had her name the colors she was using and the color her potions would end up. The creative be part was her deciding what each potion did!

Mini Shapes Cards

General Info:

  • Colors, Shapes
  • 10 minutes
  • Paper, watercolor paints, paint brushes, crayons

This was a pretty simple water color activity. I cut out little cards for my daughter to paint, and would draw shapes on the so she could see how to make the shapes then she would paint the cards. During this activity we talked about the shapes and colors we used.
