I have been soooooo excited about doing my first-holiday post! We have been doing tons of great Fourth of July Crafts and Activities to share with you all. So since it’s a holiday, and hopefully none of you mamas are having to work, check out our post for some great ideas to do with your toddler!
Without any further ado (my favorite phrase) welcome to the activities we’ve been doing to gear up for the Fourth!
1.) Hand and Foot Fourth of July Cut Out:
So for this I had my daughter cut out strips, for the top and the bottom, then we traced her hand and foot and I cut those out. She glued everything down.
Supplies:
- fourth of July scrap book paper
- stick glue
- copy paper
- marker
2.) Mosaic Wreath
Fourth of July mosaic wreath was made from a small paper plate, and the scrap paper from project 1.
We cut out the middle of the paper plate and I had my daughter practice cutting up the scrap book paper into mosaic tiles. And then she glued them down.
Supplies
- glitter glue
- scrap paper from project 1
- blue paper plate
3.) Red, White, and Blue DIY Moon Sand:
This was such a fun sensory project we did in the day’s leading up to the fourth of July. Here’s our recipe:
Ingredients:
- red and blue food coloring
- 3 cups of flour
- 15 tbsp of baby oil
Instructions:
- for each color of Moon Sand you will need one cup of flour, 5 tbsps of baby oil, and several drops of food coloring. (You will have 3 separate batches)
- stir the baby oil into the flour and then mix the food coloring, this worked best to mix it in by hand.
- for the white just don’t add food coloring.
4.) We Visited a fire work stand!
So I’ve never really taken my daughter to a firework tent to buy fireworks in the past. I’m not very good at setting them off. But this year I decided I would be brave and do some of the smaller fireworks. So we went to our local fireworks tent, and I let her pick out some of the ones that pop when you throw them on the ground, some snakes, some tanks, ducks, and monkeys riding cars (I haven’t seen those before!) She had a great time, even though it was a little hot. Everything was buy one get one free so we got quite a bit, here’s a cute cute assortment of photos!
5.) Fourth of July Coloring table:
So I decided to print off a couple cute worksheets that I found on Google and set up a coloring/painting table with some red and blue markers, water colors, and crayons. My daughter had a pretty fun time with this! She likes being artsy though (sometimes).
Our Plans For the Fourth:
So since the day isn’t completed yet, I don’t really know for sure what we will be doing. But we do have a couple of fun things planned! So in the morning we are hoping to go wild flower picking, we got my grandpa, (my daughters great-grandfather) a vase for his nursing home room, and we are hoping to fill it with wild flowers. Then we are going to head to his nursing home with some sweet treats, flowers, and some of the fourth of July Crafts we’ve been working on. I’m not sure if we will see fire works there, or set off our own tonight. We will also probably have lunch and nice visits with family! Yea I know that’s kinda vague but the day is still young. Well it’s a day late, but here’s our update for the Fourth of July!
So we took a visit to my grandpa’s, then had some KFC and set off fire works.
